The Osha Fire is contained and is being monitored, according to Mountainair Ranger District spokeswoman Arlene Perea.

"Stick a fork in it," she said.

The fire, slowed by rain and humidity, was contained as of Saturday at around 4 p.m. and is being monitored, but most of the work is completed, she said.

Although it didn't touch the other fires in the area, such as the Trigo Fire, which burned more than 14,000 acres and destroyed about 50 buildings by April 2008, plans did include using the burned areas to "corral" the fire and stop it from spreading, Perea said.

The Osha Fire, which was first spotted as an orange glow on the west slopes of the Manzano Mountains after sundown Thursday, burned only a few acres in extremely rugged terrain southwest of Capilla Peak. Perea said in a news release that lightning is the suspected cause since there were three confirmed lightning strikes in the immediate area last weekend.
