The annual Moriarty Pinto Bean Fiesta will be held on Saturday.
The day will be packed with events that are fun for the whole family. The day begins with a Lion's Club pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon. Breakfast includes pancakes, bacon or sausage, juice or coffee. Prices are $6 for adults, $3 for kids under age 12, and $5 for seniors. The annual parade will be begin at 10 a.m., with line-up starting at 8:30 a.m. behind Tillery Chevrolet-GMC. Food, crafts and games will be held at City Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Live music will be on hand by Lance Valliant from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Old cars and vintage tractors will also be on display. The daylong event will also feature a 5K, 10K and one-mile run/walk event. The Santa Fe County Mobile Health Van will be on hand for free seasonal flu shots. The vaccinations are only available for adults age 18 and older. Rodeo events will be held at the Moriarty Heritage Arena after the Pinto Bean Parade. Immediately following the parade, a ceremony will be held inducting eight kids and adults into the Heritage Rodeo Arena Wall of Fame. Rodeo entries will be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon. Sign-up begins at 12 p.m., with events gearing up at 1 p.m. for kids up to 18 years old. Cost is $5 per class or $25 for an all-day fee. Events include barrels, poles, flags, boot race, stick horse race and a rescue race. The event is sponsored by Westerneers 4-H. For more information, contact Susan Wilbanks at 832-2454.
