East Mountain High School is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year this weekend.

The 10th annual Corley's Night Under the Stars Gala will benefit the school's nonprofit foundation. It will be held on Saturday at Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Course from 6 to 10 p.m. at Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club.

We usually raise about $60,000," said EMHS Development Director Lori Webster.

The event is sponsored by Corley's Albuquerque Lincoln Mercury Volvo and will include live auctions, a dinner buffet and cash bar. There will also be a raffle for a trip for two to California wine country.

There is also a silent auction which includes 14 tons of gravel. Webster said a lot of men have bid on that item.

"We have jewelry and handbags and gift certificates for salons," she said. "(Men) will get to the gravel and think, 'I can bid on that.'"

A major part of the festivities will be the Final Shoot-Out of the Corley's Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest.

"We have 10 qualifiers trying to win $1 million," Webster said. "But I think the putting contest is even harder than the hole-in-one."

Contestants putt from 10, 20 and 50 feet from the hole, and it's more of a wide-open contest, Webster said.

"Anybody can qualify because it's putting. You don't have to be an expert golfer," she said.

In fact, for those with a penchant for putting, one of the silent auction items is a set of 10 passes to Hinkle Family Fun Center, which has a putting course, she said. Other prizes include is $25,000 in cash.

The school will also sell a trip for two to New Orleans, a dinner at principal Doug Wine's house, a gift certificate for tile from Erin Adams Design during a live auction, and there will be a raffle for a trip for two to California's wine country.

There will also be a few local celebrities announcing for the event. Tony Lynn, a DJ for 107.9 FM, and local sports anchor J.P. Murrieta will do the play-by-play.

Tickets to the event are $50 per person. For reservations, contact Lori Spanjers at 286-1574 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
